Powder Room Makeover
I’m back today with another home decor post. I always love doing these as I love decorating just as much as I do fashion! Every time I do a home decor post it is months in the making as there is so much that goes into every room renovation/makeover that I do. As I said before, we moved into our newly built Toll Brothers home over four years ago. While the home is nicely built, I have changed just about every room in the home from it’s original design. That is definitely the case when it comes to our powder room, which is arguably the most used room in our home (next to the kitchen). I set out to redo the powder room when we did our kitchen renovation, and what a transformation it is!
I almost hate to post the before picture of the powder room, as what a sad little room it was! It was basically builder grade everything, except we did upgrade to the Kohler Memoirs toilet and pedestal sink. And please excuse the sad little trash can with the grocery bag in it as the trash bag. Everything else in the room was left over from pieces we acquired when we were newlyweds. I honestly didn’t even realize how sad it was until I compared it to the redesign!
Caitlin Wilson Petite Indigo Fiore Wallpaper
This gorgeous Caitlin Wilson blue floral wallpaper combined with wainscoting totally transforms the look of this room! For years I tore out wallpaper from the homes where I previously lived. But what once was out of style is back in again (though I think in a much more tasteful way), so after all the ripping out of wallpaper I did, I decided to put it back in the powder room. I like using wallpaper in smaller rooms such as this, as it adds so much character to a space, without being too overwhelming. The slate blue floral design totally fits my style (if you happen to notice my logo!). And I really like the contrast of the wallpaper next to the timeless white wainscoting. And it looks so nice with this scalloped mirror we placed just above the sink. I was also happy to find that this brass light fixture I found on Houzz was made with the same aged brass color.
Artwork By Minted
When you put wallpaper in a room, it can be hard to find artwork to complement it. I searched everywhere for artwork with similar colors as the wallpaper. I found exactly what this room needed on Minted! The Herons on the Marsh print by Annie Marsh is just so pretty, and it has the same slate blue colors that the rest of the room has. I placed the complementary Herons Nest print on the opposite wall in the room.
Fresh flowers from Trader Joes are a nice upgrade compared to a tissue dispenser! I used this marble tray to hold this mason jar vase and candle.
We decided on brass fixtures for the room, as the kitchen has these as well. I love the timeless style of this Delta Victorian faucet, as it complements everything else in the room!
Room Sources
Overall I just couldn’t be happier with how our powder room looks now! It is timeless, classic and totally fits my style. See below for all the links to everything in the room.
