L'Occitane en Provence Shea Butter Hand Cream Review by popular Michigan blogger The Blue Hydrangeas

L’Occitane en Provence Shea Butter Hand Cream Review

Fields of lavender and rosemary in the South of France are the inspiration behind L’occitane en Provence. Founded by Frenchman Oliver Baussan over 40 years ago, with the idea that natural ingredients are better for you skin and body. Each skincare, body care and fragrance formula is created to promote both physical and mental well-being. These luxurious and soothing products not only have tangible benefits, but are meant to take you to through an experience that is unique to Provence.  In case you wonder, the company is pronounced LOX-EE-TAHN (a pronunciation I have refined after years of French classes and a trip to Paris in my 20’s).

Hand cream is the most popular product that L’Occitane en Provence offers. I can see why, as I had the opportunity to try their Shea Butter Hand Cream last year for the first time (see my post here). After trying it just once, I instantly knew why it has become so popular! This light yet moisturizing cream absorbs quickly into the skin, leaving no greasy residue. L’Occitaine en Provence shea butter hand cream is intensely hydrating, and replenishes and heals dry and cracked skin. L’occitane shea butter hand creams are available in many different fragrances and formulations, although their original shea butter hand cream is my personal favorite.

Benefits of Shea Butter

Shea butter is made from the nut of the karite shea tree that is native to Africa. Raw, unrefined shea butter contains essential fatty acids as well as vitamins A & E. It is creamy in color and has a distinct smell.  Shea butter has the ability to moisturize and sooth the skin. It is used to treat eczema, dry skin and scalp, and even cracked skin and chapped lips. Shea butter has natural anti-inflammatory and anti-aging properties. The vitamins and essential fatty acids in shea butter are necessary for keeping skin smooth and elastic.
