Air Fryer Caesar Chicken Nuggets
In an effort to make this blog more diverse and interesting to my readers, I want to start doing a monthly recipe post. Feeding my children healthy food is so important to me, and that means cooking food at home using healthy ingredients. One of my kids favorite things to eat is chicken nuggets! You just can’t go wrong with them. It is easy enough to go to the store and just buy chicken nuggets, but I am telling you if you take just a little bit of time to make them yourself, there is a huge difference in taste and quality! So today’s post is about an easy, flavorful chicken nugget recipe that will appeal to both children and adults!
This is a really simple recipe, that requires just a few simple ingredients – bread crumbs, parmesan cheese, caesar dressing, salt and pepper. I start by cutting organic chicken breasts into bite sized chunks. I then marinate them in the refrigerator in a bag with Caesar dressing for at least two hours. For this recipe I used Lighthouse Caesar Dressing. This is the tastiest, most flavorful Caesar dressing our family has ever had! This creamy Caesar dressing has the perfect, all-natural blend of parmesan, garlic, and a hint of anchovy. And the marinade provides the right amount of stickiness so that the blend of Panko and Italian breadcrumbs mixed with Parmesan cheese will adhere to the chicken. When using an air fryer you want to use simple oil-based coatings, rather than an egg coating as that could cause problems when using an air fryer.
My daughter had so much fun breading the chicken nuggets. After coating the chicken marinated nuggets with the Panko/Italian breadcrumb/Parmesan cheese mix, lay them individually on a piece of parchment paper.
Breville Convection and Air Fryer Smart Oven
After seeing so many tasty air-fryer recipes, I decided I wanted to get one myself. I love the taste of fried foods, but I don’t love how unhealthy they are. An air fryer offers the promise of perfectly crisp fried food using very little oil. There are lots of air fryers on the market, but my husband and I wanted to get one with multiple functions. This is why we like the Breville Convection and Air Fryer Smart Oven. This versatile kitchen appliance does it all! It works as stand alone oven (where you can even road a 14 lb turkey), a toaster, an air-fryer, and even a dehydrator! Given this appliance does so many tasks, it really is worth the investment. It is the single most used appliance in our home. And it is a fine air fryer if I ever do say so! It worked perfectly for the Caesar chicken nuggets. But there are also many nice stand-alone air fryers on the market. See below for some recommended ones by America’s Test Kitchen:
Preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees. Once you have coated your chicken nuggets, lay them individually in the basket or tray of your air fryer. I do recommend spritzing your chicken nuggets with an olive oil misterolive oil mister to given them more crispness and color.
The end result after air frying the chicken nuggets is crisp, moist and flavorful chicken nuggets. The Caesar dressing adds such a flavorful element of taste that you won’t have with traditional chicken nuggets. Simply put, these are the most divine chicken nuggets we have ever had!
Serve with salad or vegetables on the side. And be sure to dip them in your favorite marinara dipping sauce or ketchup. These work well as a main meal. I will also make a batch ahead of time so my kids will have them in their lunch.
