With fall just a matter of days away, it is time to put away the bathing suits, shorts and sundresses and pull out the sweaters, jeans, and coats. And with 2019 New York Fashion Week behind us, I have definitely felt inspired by all the new high fashion trends!  I have alway had expensive tastes which is why high fashion appeals to me, but I’ve never wanted to shell out the money for expensive designer pieces. I’ve mentioned before that I buy many of my designer purses on eBay, but it can also be a great resource for high end designer clothing. From brands such as Altuzarra, Missoni, Rebecca Taylor, and Zimmerman, I always seem to find what I want on eBay. And I have never been disappointed with eBay’s customer service!

Altuzarra Striped Sweater Dress

I have to admit, I became obsessed with finding an Altuzarra striped dress after seeing how Katie Holmes styled this dress with a denim jacket. I’ve always appreciated her style, and perhaps it’s because she grew up less than an hour from where I live now. Anyway, with the changing weather I didn’t want a sleeveless dress. However I came across the Atluzarra sweater dress I am wearing now on eBay at a significant discount. The dress I purchased is sold out, but this one and this one are both very similar. As soon as the dress arrived I knew why it cost what it did originally. The sweater dress is made of a thick nylon/viscose material and the color is rich. The button detail at the side give this dress so much style! And the quality is impeccable. 

You can wear a denim jacket with just about any dress for a chic casual look. So I decided to style the dress with this Madewell oversized denim jacket. And to really make the outfit distinctive, I decided to add a pop of red with a YSL Lou Lou crossbody bag I also found on eBay brand new (this one is very similar).  Black block heel sandals from Ann Taylor complete the look. I this outfit to a foodie dinner event in downtown Detroit, and I received so many complements on the look! 

More High Fashion Finds on eBay

As I said before, you can find so many high-end designer dresses, jackets, tops, and pants on eBay. I love the classic and timeless styling of this Altuzarra black sweater dress. This is a dress that would be great for the office and into the evening. This black and pink floral Rebecca Taylor dress is simply stunning, and would look great with a black cardigan for fall. Tweed never goes out of style, and this Jason Wu tweed dress is a cut above anything else I have seen! And this Derek Lam silk zebra print dress would be amazing to wear to an evening event. So many of these dresses retail over $1000 but you can find them at a fraction of the price on eBay.

Designer Bags Perfect for Fall

As I’ve said in this post, eBay is a great resource for designer bags.  My classic YSL Toy Lou Lou bag I am carrying here can be found on eBay too. E-bay is a great place to buy a designer bag, and often is the first place I look when deciding to purchase one. Expect to pay a reasonable, fair price for a designer bag. It shouldn’t be significantly less expensive than the retail price (but at least a little lower). Pictures are everything. Look for auctions with many detailed pictures, including the original receipt and/or original box. And try to buy local. If you are in the United States, stick to US based sellers. Small, individual sellers can be a great resource for designer bags. And if you want even more assurance that you are buying an authentic item, eBay offers a large selection of guaranteed authentic designer bags. And if you search in the search bar on eBay.com for “Louis Vuitton Neverfull” or another designer bag, and scroll down on the left side, you can filter under: Show Only > “Authenticity Verified” to show an even wider selection! Final Suggestions for Buying High Fashion on eBay

If I could offer any final tips, it would be to try to buy from sellers in the United States. It is a lot easier to make returns if an item isn’t quite what you wanted if the seller is in the US.  And definitely choose “Buy It Now” when you can. If you enter an auction, you may end up in a bidding war, which could negate any savings you might otherwise have. By choosing a buy it now auction I know exactly what I am going to pay. Often times there is a “Make Offer” option, and I will make an offer that is usually $100-$150 lower than the buy it now price. More often than not my offer is accepted.
