Why Invisalign® Treatment Is Our First Choice for Orthodontic Treatment
As a mom of tweens, I know just how important it is for kids to have self-confidence. And having self-confidence starts with your smile! I learned early on as a mother that all of my children were going to require orthodontic treatments, with my oldest daughter being the first one. Good oral health is important to me as a parent, and I want to be as proactive as possible when it comes to their teeth. My daughter and I have such busy schedules, and I know just how hard it can be to make multiple trips to the orthodontist for maintenance of traditional braces.
I first learned about Invisalign® clear aligners several years ago, and I have been intrigued ever since! Invisalign® treatment is the most advanced clear aligner system in the world and because they’re removable you can eat your favorite foods without restrictions. My daughter, who is very active in sports, doesn’t have to worry about broken brackets or wires. And she can brush and floss as she normally does, without the hassle of braces. Even better, the end result is a beautiful smile! So when the professionals at Steiper and Brust Orthodontics said she was the perfect candidate for Invisalign® treatment, we knew this was the right answer for her!
iTero® Digital Scanner
Our initial consultation with Dr. Brust started with a thorough oral assessment. My daughter has issues with overcrowding and an overbite, and this is what we know needs to be corrected. Her examination started out with a digital “impression” using the iTero® digital scanner. This innovative device creates a 3D image of your teeth in just minutes! This was so much better than conventional impressions, which can be messy, taste unpleasant and can cause gagging.
This digital scanner takes over 6,000 images* per second to create an amazing virtual representation of her smile. You can easily see the issues that need to be corrected, the overbite and overcrowding.

Her initial assessment also includes traditional x-rays. These allow the doctor to have a complete oral assessment before he begins her treatment plan.
The Consultation with Dr. Brust
Dr. Brust spent so much time with us explaining how Invisalign® treatment works, and why he uses it on his patients. Simply put, Invisalign® clear aligners work. Invisalign treatment is the most advanced clear aligner system in the world! The last 20 years of innovation and 6 million+ smiles have enabled Invisalign® aligners to treat the most simple simple to very complex orthodontic cases. And Invisalign clear aligners are made to move. Each set of Invisalign® clear aligners shifts your son or daughter’s teeth slightly, moving them horizontally, vertically and even rotating them when needed. The aligners are designed to use the right amount of force in the right place at the right time.
The Invisalign® Difference
There are many different clear aligners on the market. However, only Invisalign® treatment uses SmartTrack® material that straightens teeth with more predictability than other clear aligners. That precision can make all the difference in your orthodontic experience**! And I love that Invisalign® aligners are removable so my daughter can keep enjoying her sports and her favorite foods. My daughter loves that Invisalign® clear aligners are nearly transparent. In many instances it is hard to tell one is wearing them!
** Compared to off-the-shelf, single layer .030in material
At the end of our consultation, we even got to see the simulated outcome from Invisalign®. You can clearly see that her teeth will be aligned and her overbite is corrected!
